Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of Mongolia is a government body established in 1996 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. It is the central public agency responsible for the development of science and advanced technology as well as the implementation of government policies at the national level.
The Ministry has created various research institutes, centres, laboratories and other units necessary to carry out its functions and objectives. The Ministry’s duties include supporting the Mongolian Government in the development of science and technology, taking measures to ensure human rights, providing professional and methodological assistance to city governors and other structural units and providing quality education to children and youth as well as assessing and evaluating the economic and social development of Mongolia, making recommendations and submit these to the Government. The Ministry coordinates the education system (pre-school, primary, secondary, vocational and higher education) in Mongolia. It issues licenses and approves the structure, staffing rules and model regulations of educational departments. The Ministry is also in charge of formulating and implementing development plans, rules, regulations, concepts, guidelines and projects related to education as well as providing educational institutions with special facilities, technical means, equipment, teaching aid, books, and other necessary resources.
