Caritas Morocco

Caritas Morocco helps national non-governmental organizations to care for and support the most marginalized groups such as the poor, people with physical and learning disabilities, vulnerable women and prisoners. It also runs development and irrigation projects in rural areas. With support from national and international non-governmental organizations, Caritas Morocco is involved in relief and reconstruction projects, particularly after the Hoceima earthquake in 2004, and has helped to fund the building of a new school.

Caritas Morocco is concerned as to the fate of migrants from sub-Saharan Africa who try to make their way to Europe. In Rabat, where they find some institutional support, or in the north where they look for opportunities to cross the sea, thousands of people struggle to survive with very limited resources, no rights and only hope for a better life. The Church and Caritas do their best to offer human and material support in terms of health, education, legal advice and humanitarian aid, usually with local charitable associations.
