Municipality of Saint-Gilles (Belgium)

Located in the heart of the European capital, Saint-Gilles is often referred to as a “village within the city”. Small town with dense buildings, Saint-Gilles lives through its districts which each have their own identity.

The Saint-Gilles municipal council has 35 elected councilors . It manages all "matters of municipal interest", that is to say everything that interests all the inhabitants of the municipality:

• it deliberates on most of the important questions linked to municipal action (vote on the budget and accounts), appointment of staff, etc.
• he establishes the internal administration regulations (internal management of the municipality) and the police regulations in order to ensure public order
• it also deliberates on the attributions entrusted by the higher authorities (for example, issuance of town planning and subdivision permits)
