Regional Ministry of the Rural Environment of the Junta de Galicia
The Regional Ministry of the Rural Environment of the Junta de Galicia is a council of the Junta de Galicia with powers in the management and promotion of agriculture, livestock, products with a designation of origin, and forestry policy.
The rural environment constitutes the essence and the soul of Galicia. In it are the foundations of its culture, its traditions and its personality. However, it is much more than an inhabited physical space, despite the fact that it represents most of our territory. Faced with this unquestionable reality, it is up to the public powers, hand in hand with private initiative, to ensure that agriculture continues to be a living, multifunctional, dynamic and sustainable environment. It has to be a space in which there is economic activity in general and agriculture and livestock in particular, and that this is capable of generating quality productions with sufficient added value so that it reaches the entire value chain, from the farmer and rancher to the final consumer, through industry and distribution.
Precisely, the linking of all these agents constitutes one of the fundamental objectives of the Ministry of Rural Affairs and for that it is necessary to act at all levels, especially in the first link. Thus, one of our strategic objectives is to value land with an agricultural and livestock vocation, mobilizing farms to put them into use and to provide a sufficient territorial base for farmers and ranchers. What we want is that they have the means and tools necessary to produce quality food, even that they can reach excellence.
