Description

World Vision began working in Rwanda in 1994 to respond to the unprecended chaos caused by the genocide, in which more than a million of people died. World Vision initially provided emergency help to those displaced, cared for unaccompanied children, and then helped people resettle as they returned home.

Since 2000, World Vision has been working with communities in Rwanda to find long-term solutions to poverty and injustice. As Rwandans are still recovering from Africa’s worst genocide of modern times, World Vision is supporting more than 1,200,000 people, especially children, through 30 long-term, child-focused Area  Programmes (APs).

Vision

  • We have a World Vision for children - where every child  grows up healthy and strong, is cared for and protected and has opportunities to flourish.
  • We have a World Vision for change- both on a global scale  and in the lives of individuals through powerful one-to-one connections.
  • We have a World Vision for life– where we care for each other in a world full of promise and free of poverty.
