The Senegalese Red Cross was created in 1962.
It was also recognized in 1963 by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the same year joined the League of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies which became the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) .
Auxiliary to public authorities, the Senegalese Red Cross is present on the national territory and has a mobilization capacity to intervene in any situation in favor of the most vulnerable and victims without any discrimination.
It acts in accordance with the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, particularly neutrality, impartiality and independence, and contributes to improving the lot of the most vulnerable, whose survival is threatened or who risk no longer enjoying an acceptable level of socio-economic security and human dignity, in all circumstances and encourages the help and availability of its members to act voluntarily to help vulnerable people.
