General context
The National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) is a non-administrative public institution with legal personality and financial autonomy. It is subject to the supervision of the minister in charge of social security and created under law 2004-71 of August 2, 2004.
Objectives and organizations
The CNAM is a new institution introduced by the health insurance reform, which aims in particular to unify the health insurance schemes and health services in the country. Indeed, it is for the first time that the management of health risk, previously carried out by the CNSS and the CNRPS, is unified in a single fund, the CNAM. This structure will be based on its 62 regional and local centers distributed throughout the Tunisian territory.
