The General Directorate of Roads -DGC- is a dependency of the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing, created on May 28, 1920 by Government Agreement issued by the President of the Republic Carlos Herrera Luna and its functions are established in Government Agreement No. 520-99, Internal Organic Regulation of the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing.
The DGC is responsible for the administration of the country's registered road network, which involves the planning, design, execution and supervision of construction works, expansion, rehabilitation and maintenance of the country's highways.
