Responsibilities of the Ministry :-
i. Preparation of architectural and structural plans for government buildings and other infrastructures.
ii. Construction/maintenance preservation of memorials, museums and historical structures.
iii. Expansion of the planned development of 4 (four) metropolitan areas of the country.
iv. Various cities of the country including Dhaka are constructing and expanding roads, bypasses etc. in urban areas to develop and distribute residential plots for high, middle and low income people by creating and distributing land development and infrastructure.
v. Advising the Government on planned urbanization, ensuring fair use of land and land development.
vi. Allotment of Residential/Commercial/Industrial Plots with all amenities to create residential and employment opportunities in Urban Areas/Urban Areas.
vii. Creation of plots and use of houses for rehabilitation of underprivileged people.
viii. Management, maintenance, transfer and sale of abandoned houses, commercial establishments etc. under the jurisdiction of the government.
ix. Allotment of government houses and rent collection among officials/employees of Dhaka and Chittagong cities.
x. Construction of multi-storied residential flats for easy sale to government officials/employees and all classes of people.
xi. Development and marketing of low-cost sustainable house construction techniques and technologies.
xii. Arrangements for rehabilitation of urban homeless/poor/destitute people.
xiii. Participating in the preparation of the master plan of police stations in every district of the country.
