After World War II, UNICEF supplied children in Czechoslovakia with powdered milk, medicine, vitamins and basic foodstuffs. In 1991, it returned to the Czech Republic permanently as an organization with an international element – the Czech Committee for UNICEF. The mission of the Czech Committee for UNICEF is the promotion of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, awareness-raising and educational activities, and fundraising for long-term programs to help children in the world's poorest countries and humanitarian aid in situations of natural disasters and war conflicts.
