The Hellenic Land Registry is a Legal Entity under Public Law under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Environment and Energy for the purpose of maintaining topographic maps, managing geodetic material and operating a national mortgage system. It was originally established as Land Registry S.A., by decision of the Ministers of National Economy, PEHODE and Finance. By law 4164/2013 it was renamed to National Land Registry & Mapping SA. and with Law 4512/2018 on the Greek Land Registry.
In 2003, the land registry began to operate. By April 2008, 8.4 million acres, 6 million rights had been registered in the Land Registry and 97 Land Offices were operating, 121 in January 2020. By the beginning of 2022, 85.7% of the territory had been registered and completed the preparation of forest maps.
