The Bistrita Nasăud County Police Inspectorate carries out its activity according to Law no. 218/2002 regarding the organization and functioning of the Romanian Police with subsequent amendments and additions, Law no. 360/2002 regarding the Statute of the police officer with subsequent amendments and additions, Government Emergency Ordinance no. 30/2007 regarding the organization and functioning of the MAI approved with amendments by Law no. 15/2008 with subsequent amendments and additions, Government Decision no. 416/2007 regarding the organizational structure and staff of the MAI with subsequent amendments and additions.
The inspectorate carries out activities to maintain public order and peace, the safety of the citizen, to prevent and combat the criminal phenomenon and to identify and counteract the actions of elements that threaten the life, freedom, health and integrity of people, private and public property, as well as of other legitimate interests of the community.
In fulfilling its duties, the Inspectorate cooperates with the other territorial units of the MAI, with other specialized bodies of the public administration and collaborates with the local public administration authorities, their associative structures, employers' associations and unions, associations and non-governmental organizations, with other legal entities , as well as with civil society, within the limits of the law.
