Description

Oxfam started in Tajikistan in 2001, and has continuous program delivery since. Our program is concentrated in rural areas in the northern and southern regions in of the country, where migration rates are high, and where farming is the main source of employment. The main areas of work are:

safe drinking water and sanitation;
economic development;
improving the capacity of villagers and state institutions to adequately respond to disasters.

The cross cutting themes of Oxfam’s programs are good governance, gender and adaptation to climate change.

Majority of our beneficiaries are small holder farmers and due to high male migration predominantly are women.

Oxfam also operates at national and local levels, working with a number of Tajik NGOs, various ministries and departments of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
