The Lodévois and Larzac Community of Communes is an EPCI (Public Establishment for Intercommunal Cooperation) with its own tax system. It exercises compulsory and optional powers in places of member municipalities, as well as additional skills that the municipalities transfer to it. Its role is to structure overall territorial coherence in order to develop a common development and spatial planning project.
The Lodévois and Larzac community of communes created in 2008 is made up of 28 communes for 15,000 inhabitants. Its predominantly rural territory is characterized by its geographical extent (552 km²) which gives it exceptional landscape, cultural and heritage diversity, to the north of the Hérault department, in the Occitanie region.
