Avatud Eesti Fond/Open Estonia Foundation
Details
Description
Founded on April 19, 1990 with the support of philosopher George Soros, the Open Estonia Foundation encourages and supports developments in Estonian society that make us open to the world, but what we all see is becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable. Fears can sometimes be understood, but fear is a bad guide. The Open Estonia Foundation deliberately wants to direct social debate towards openness and tolerance. We do this both by organizing events ourselves and by launching programs as well as by supporting other community projects. Our focus has always been on the future and the future begins today.
We are looking at new charts and rankings with a pleasant knowledge that many of the phenomena we rightly pride in Estonia - whether digital or digital - have just begun with the Open Estonia Foundation. But it's not about comparing to others. Estonia deserves openness for Estonia itself and we deserve it for our future today.
We want Estonia to be a place where everyone has equal opportunities, regardless of income, gender, nationality, race or sexual orientation. We want Estonia to be a place where democracy is more than a beautiful Greek word. We want our home to be the place where everyone understands the content of the laws and how and why the laws are just what they are. We would like to have a thorough discussion on the important issues that determine Estonia's future, in which all the parties concerned are heard.
These are the wishes of many people in Estonia and we will help them implement them. To this end, the Open Estonia Foundation cooperates with NGOs, civil activists, entrepreneurs, researchers, educational and cultural people, the media, municipalities and government agencies.
