The Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Agricultural Markets and Rural Development (ARSKTRP) is a body within the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food. It is the only Slovenian institution that is fully accredited for the implementation of common agricultural and fisheries policy measures.
It was established by a decision of the government (January 7, 1999) following the European model for the implementation of agricultural policy measures and the disbursement of funds from the European agricultural and fisheries funds.

The agency is fully accredited to carry out the most demanding procedures in the allocation of financial resources in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, food processing industry and rural development. At the agency, we implement direct payment measures, rural development measures and agricultural market measures. We also carry out the tasks of the market information system and internal control and internal audit.

At the agency, we are responsible for the timely and legal execution of payments to farmers and other beneficiaries from the state budget and European funds: the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF), the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the European Fisheries Fund (ESF).

We check the administrative and content adequacy of received applications and claims. When processing applications in accordance with domestic and European legislation, we carry out numerous administrative and on-the-spot checks and account for payments. We take care of the legal and timely payment of approved funds to the final recipients and report this to the government and European institutions. In the aforementioned administrative procedures, the Agency is the first instance authority in the decision-making process.

Effective, fast and precise technical implementation of agricultural policy measures means support for the preservation and development of the countryside in Slovenia and the strengthening of agricultural markets. Our work is thus aimed at everyone who is directly or indirectly connected with agriculture and the countryside.

The fundamental mission of the agency is the implementation of measures of the common agricultural policy, which is based on the transparency, regularity and legality of all payments made.
