The village is located on the right bank of the Vltava about 5 km south of the 50th parallel (south of Prague), 28 km east of the 14th meridian, in the hilly terrain of the Central Bohemian Highlands. The lowest point of the village is in the easternmost tip on the level of the river near the ferry, 190 m above sea level. The highest point is the southern side on Chlumík Hill, 330 m above sea level. In addition to the Vltava River, the Dubná, Dravkov and Zvolský streams flow through the village.
Vrané nad Vltavou consisted of two historical settlements, Skochovice and Vraného, the total area after border adjustments in 1997 is 416 hectares. There are 788 houses and 2632 permanent residents. The village is also actively used for recreation, 619 cottages have been built here.
