A key member of the United Nations family, we facilitate the Organization’s work in the promotion of peace, development and human rights. We build partnerships with civil society, research, academia and other international actors. We nurture mutual respect and understanding through cultural exchange. We preserve the institutional memory and unique heritage of the United Nations, and we reach out to mobilize support for the efforts of our Organization.
UNOG forms part of an active United Nations family in Geneva, in the historic setting of the Palais des Nations, we work for a better future for all. Over 10,000 meetings are hosted here every year, each in different ways touching the lives of people across the globe. Whether it is promoting individual rights and empowerment, helping to build peace in fragile communities, advancing disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control, facilitating humanitarian action or building conditions for sustainable development, the discussions and decisions at the Palais des Nations make a difference in the lives of people everywhere.
