Short profile: Biodiversity and resource management specialist

I have more than thirty years of professional consulting experience across a wider range of related projects that include biodiversity and natural resource assesment, evaluation and managment. As a natural systems and integrative thinker, I am proficent in understading the complexity of human-natural resource coupled systems, including trade-offs, synergies and leverage points for recommending efficient and effective interventions at local, national, and regional levels.

I have extensive national and international experience working on many high-profile projects in the field of natural resource management, conservation planning, biodiversity impact assessment, biodiversity management planning, as well as capacity development in natural resource management.   

International clients include UNDP, European Union, Department for International Development - GOV.UK; World Bank, World Bank-International Finance Corporation, Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), Conservation International, Global Environmental Fund (GEF). 

National clients include: South African Council for Industrial Research (CSIR), South African Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; South African National Biodiversity Institute, South African Department of Environmental Affairs, and the Eastern Cape Eastern Cape Parks & Tourism Agency

  • Social and environmental safeguards screening .
  • Hands on expertise in in ethnobotanical research and field work into non-timber forest products, as well as desktop analyses of nutritional, medicinal, and economic values of wild used plants .
