Leading a United Nations Country Team, Humanitarian Country Team and the UNDP Country Programme in challenging and complex environments.  Leadership in coordination, building and nurturing relationships with external partners – UN agencies, multilateral institutions, programme country governments and donors.  Leadership in formulating development strategies and overall management of teams, country programme planning, effective communication skills, adapting to change, and political acumen. Programme development, in particular, setting strategies for achieving results.  Results based management and quality assurance of country programmes - identifying results indicators, monitoring mechanism, and results reporting.   Co-ordination - within the UN Development Group and with external partners.  In-depth knowledge of UNICEF and inter-agency business practices, harmonization and auditing issues at the operational and HLCM policy level. Networking, influencing and advocacy with senior policy makers grounded in sound knowledge of context, technical capacity in a wide range of issues and understanding of the socio-economic and political dimensions for advancing the welfare of women and children in national planning.  Established goodwill with programme governments in promoting the rights of children and issues related to women empowerment and maternal health.
