About

As a Lawyer I have started my career by learning from the grassroots level empowering and advocating for the most vulnerable communities. I grow up in my career progressively shifting from pure advocacy to work in leadership and policy development but also monitoring and evaluating measuring the impact of humanitarian, legal, human rights, rule of law, and/or criminal justice work.

Through my engagement with local authorities and civil society groups, I came to understand how conflicts often have multiple local manifestations and the importance that peace operations understand these local conflict dynamics, by regularly engaging with local communities. I have learned that advocacy solely is not sufficient, better conflict prevention and protection of civilians require greater support for local conflict prevention and management. It’s not only about engaging, but also about awareness-raising and education regarding the benefits of inclusive communities, peaceful coexistence addressing the root causes of conflicts. Lobbying for legitimacy and ownership has helped me succeed in my endeavors. Started as a program officer, in the Development Aid sector managing small and medium grants for NGOs in the global South. Moved later on into advocacy, capacity building, and strengthening of local civil society groups. Moved later on into advocacy, capacity building, and strengthening of local civil society groups (Amnesty international) then solicited to manage large portfolios and teams in complex settings (the Gulf Foundation/joint EU & Dutch Ministry of Foreign affairs initiative for democracy and human rights in the Arab Gulf Countries: https://gulfoundation.org/) or even in war-torn countries (EU project Strengthening the efficiency and credibility of the criminal justice system and enhancing the rule of law in Iraq EuropeAid/134721/C/SER/IQ) and more recently the Humanitarian sector (Iraq).

Throughout the different processes of my humanitarian work, I have always worked towards advancing social cohesion, equitable and fair aid and humanitarian aid, building resilience, fostering coexistence, peacebuilding. Convinced that sustainable peace requires not only political will from all sides but also the collective efforts of the international community, civil society. Local community leaders, etc. I have always expanded the space for dialogue to encompass local female leaders, youth, and other actors who have a voice and influence within their respective communities during conflicts and humanitarian crises.
