Project: Moldova Energy and Biomass Project (MEBP), financed by EU

MEBP phase II was an EU funded project (9.41 mln EUR) and implemented by UNDP. Main partners of the MEBP were the Ministry of Economy and the Agency for Energy Eficiency. The project purpose was to significantly increase the use of renewable energy technology through fuel switching and energy efficiency. The second phase of the project had the main purpose of further supporting the development of the local biomass market and emerging industry and extending activities related to improving heat comfort in public buildings, by using local readily available biomass from agricultural wastes. Main responsibilities of the PM were overall management of the project, especially managing the large scale investments (up to 200,000 USD), overseeing the development of biofuel market and capacity bulding in field of energy efficieny, renewables, liaison with Delegation of the European Union in Moldova, Ministry of Economy, Agency for Energy Efficiency, National Bureau of Statistics and local governments as main partners of the project. Project supported the NBS to improve data collection related to renewable energy indicators.
