About
A proven career as a multi-skilled generalist in the public, NGO and private sectors respectively, having promoted their interests with international business, institutions, organisations and governments.
In the Public Sector was a commissioned officer in the South African Air Force. Transferred into the Foreign Service as a diplomat, lobbied and represented the economic and political interests of the government of the Republic of South Africa in the United States. Represented South Africa as Environmental Attaché at international forums in the United States. Also performed and headed the function of bilateral foreign service and trade desk officer to various Southern African countries during the Mandela era. As a diplomat, was also seconded as a secretariat officer to the Secretariat for the Economic Community of Southern Africa (SECOSAF) and later separately seconded to represent the electoral monitoring interests of international organisations such as the Organisation for African Unity (OAU) and the United Nations (UN) in various African countries. Worked with a broad range of international institutions, organisations and cultures.
Later consulted to the South African government in communication, media relations, media training and strategic planning to institutions such as the South African Department of Land Affairs, South African National Defence Force and the South African Civil Aviation Authority.
In the Non-Governmental Sector have a proven 10 year track record advocating and project managing the reintegration of ex-combatants and disadvantaged youth into civil society as part of as executive director of the Trust Philanthropic Trust . Also represented the interests of a disadvantaged community trust in the Northern Cape, South Africa (Griqwa/Khoi San) as Corporate Advisor. Activities included capacity building exercises and in service training managing these Trusts. Initiated and assisted in empowerment transactions promoting the Trusts interests, strategic direction and advised on the management of assets.
As employee in the Private Sector have worked mainly in the functionary area of marketing but also performing commercial functions for various companies within the agriculture, mining, mining supplies, ICT, property, aerospace/aviation and airline sectors.
Activities included company marketing, secretarial, CSI and commercial functions.
As an Independent Consultant, advised and assisted various international and South African companies in functional areas such as business development, marketing, performance management, strategic communication and planning, and other commercial functions. Also developed and performed media relations; developed public relations training material; lectured in Communication/Public Relations in the areas of lobbying and strategic planning. Developed product brands; conducted product and marketing research. Also specialise in Monitoring and Evaluation relating to programme and project management of CSI Programmes.
Also developed mining concessions and operations in South Africa and Southern African countries; initiated agricultural rehabilitation of mine land for two major mining companies and initiated projects for remediation and processing of waste dumps.
Companies and institutions to whom consulted included large corporates such as De Beers Group, Anglo American Pty Ltd, Mintails (Australian listed), South African Petroleum Refineries (SAPREF), the Institute of Public Relations of Southern Africa (PRISA), Kimcor Plc and Jubilee Platinum Plc.
