About
Henry is a capacity strengthening and grants management expert with over 15 years international experience. He has specialized in Host Country led PEPFAR and European Union funded Contracts and Co-operative Agreements implemented in partnership with the Private Sector, Faith Based Organizations (FBO) and Civil Society Organizations (CSO) within complex multi-actor environments, multiple zonal structures and consortium establishments.
Henry’s entry point in international development was in CSO capacity strengthening role in Somalia in 1998 where he successfully managed the USAID/CARE USA’s Somalia Partnership Program strategy of pioneering grant awards to nascent Somali CSOs through an innovative staff internship program, in-kind grants and proven organizational development methods. Since then, Henry has managed several flagship capacity strengthening grant programs in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia including the Local Partner Initiative in Uganda in 2019 using various tools namely, Non- US Organization Pre -Award Surveys (NUPAS), and Technical Organizational Capacity Assessments (TOCA) and assisted hundreds of Civil Society Organizations to design capacity development plans in a participatory manner.
Educated at the Kenya Technical Teachers College, studied Certified Public Accountancy qualification (CPA) at the Kenya School of Professional Studies - winner of Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) prize for scoring the highest marks in CPA II Financial Accounting III Paper in December 1993 diet. Trained as an auditor with Ernst & Young Certified Public Accountants, Nairobi, Kenya. Holds an M.A degree in Development Administration and Management from Kampala International University, Uganda.
