Croatian economist, former chief statistician, and government official with over 20 years of experience, currently working as the Leading expert in the Croatian Financial Agency - FINA, specializing in the design of data collection systems and analytical products.
As an Independent Statistical Consultant, he is also engaged in projects for the World Bank, Eurostat, UN Statistical Commission, and UN Women.
He has led the Peer Review of the Statistical Systems of Sweden, Netherlands, Latvia, and Slovenia.
In his former role as the Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics Marko initiated an extensive digital transformation, modernised work processes and data processing and through proactive public communication changed the perception of official statistics in Croatia. As DG of CBS, Marko was personally elected member of the European Statistical Advisory Committee (ESAC) for two consecutive terms and was elected Vice-Chair of the Bureau of the UNECE’s Conference of European statisticians.
