Holding an Advanced Study Diploma in Environmental Management and Decision-Making and a Doctorate in Humanities and Modern Languages, I possess over 30 years of experience in managing complex emergency, post-conflict recovery and livelihood/resilience-building operations in food/cash, nutrition, refugee and internally displaced settings, migration and livelihood promoting interventions. During my career, I developed sound abilities to work and build partnerships with various stakeholders, including Governments, national institutions, civil society associations, UN agencies (WB, UNHCR, IOM, UNICEF and others), international donors (USAID/FFP, EU/ECHO, DFID, JICO, etc.) and various INGO partners. I am fluent in German (mother tongue), Italian, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

During the past three decades of professional work with the United Nations, I gained extensive and solid experience in several functional areas through diversified exposures to multiple emergency, post-conflict, recovery and development operational contexts.  I have actively contributed to the design and implementation of operations-specific country strategies, as well as managed operations and resources in different large-scale complex emergency responses in conflict, displacements and natural disaster responses as Head of Area/Sub-Office, Emergency Coordinator and Head of Operations in Angola, most of West African Coastal and Sahel countries, Sudan/Darfur, South Sudan, DRC, Ethiopia, Former Yugoslavia, Horn of Africa, Syria refugee and many other emergency response and recovery operations. Currently I work with the WFP HQ Emergency Preparedness & Response Planning (EPRP) management division, support the inter-agency (IASC) Programme Criticality Assessment and contribute to the Country Capacity Strenghtening and CADRI Platform (Capacity for Disaster Reduction Initiative).

In all my assignments, I have consistently developed and communicated a clear vision and strategy, with a strong determination to translate those into results-oriented actions and tangible outputs while ensuring effective management of resources. I developed great abilities in conducting capacity building and training for national staff, institutional counterparts and operational partners through evidence-based and proven practical management, partnership coordination and leadership skills.
