The research study involved considerations of socio‑economic factors, level of health education, culture and religious attitudes, level of water supply, convenience and comfort, rainfall and temperature, hydrogeological (soil and ground water table) conditions, level of technology for construction, upgrading sequence and potential resource recovery in selecting appropriate type of low cost sanitation systems and their designs for rural and sub‑urban areas in Bangladesh. Promoted bio-gas plants and use of digested human excreta for agriculture and aquaculture.
- Undertook special study on Design of Lined and Unlined Irrigation/Drainage Canals in Post Graduate Course on Water Resources Engineering.
- Guided design and implementation of urban drainage network.
- Actively participated in R&D activities on water supply and sanitation for development of appropriate technologies (including those for difficult areas and made resilient to Climate Change extreme events).
- Conducted 5 types of sanitation innovations (including one of floating type) in haor areas.
- Conducted studies/evaluations/researches on WSS sectoral/thematic/cross-cutting issues in different socio-eco-cultural contexts.
