About
1. I am a laboratory and public health specialist dedicated to fighting TB through the application of modern TB diagnostics like GeneXpert, Next Generation Sequencing. However, until recently I had taken a diversion into COVID-19 response which was different but also enjoyable. Who knows maybe one day I will get a chance to also fight Ebola...
2. If I learned anything from TB and COVID-19, it is that some things change, and one has to keep up. So I use part of my free time to catch up with the state of the art of knowledge through research articles, attending webinars, and self-paced courses ( I have 90 XP on openWHO, I have no idea what that means, but I thought I should say.
3. Yes I have hobbies, (a) I play Freecell. They say it means I like to work alone but I disagree. The meaning is more straightforward, I like the game, after all, it is a strategy game. I also browse Twitter where I have more than 25K followers. My love for Twitter comes from 2014 when I did a research report on how a nonprofit was using Twitter for their work
4. I have traveled to and worked in several countries, including Eswatini, Namibia, Russian Federation, Kyrgyzstan, and Iraq.
5. I speak English, Shona, Ndebele, Zulu/Siswati well. I also speak Russian to a certain extent.
6. I am on the lookout for new challenges in the areas of clinical diagnostics, laboratory and measurement and project management. Save the inmail, reach me on tafara@zanamwelyonline.com or Twitter: @zanamwely
