Paolo is passionate about delivering quality remote sensing and mapping products as well as capacity building in/to developing countries as a contribution to improve livelihoods, and eventually enhance individual, professional, and societal advancement for a better place to live in. He applies this vision by: (1) teaching in/to developing countries, (2) researching on the use of freely available or low cost satellite data, aerial images and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for an holistic monitoring of land and water resources, in (3) trying to link up western and developing countries’ academic worlds, through publications and schools, and in (4) consulting for the professional world, believing that real-world professional practice is enhanced when coupled with academic and education.

Paolo has 20+ years professional experience working in a wide range of contexts: Humanitarian , Academic, and Private Sectors, mainly in Africa and partly in Asia. His main areas of specialization are GIS & Remote Sensing, Field Data Collection (Hydrology, Sedimentology, Geology), Fluvial Geomorphology, and Natural Hazards studies.
