Presentation
Alain Jorda works with local authorities and leaders, in Europe and Latam, in order to assist them in defining and developing a Local Economic Development strategy for their communities. He has experience as well in assessing national/regional governments on regional/local development policies.
To do this, he uses a participatory methodology in order to involve local stakeholders in both, the definition and the development of local/territorial strategy. He has worked with several territories in helping them defining their RIS3 strategy as well.
From 2001 to 2011, Alain Jorda was a city councelor in his home town, Manresa (Barcelona) and, for 8 years, he managed the Local Economic Development and was actively involved in multiple INTERREG and URBACT projects (CAPTURE, CLIQ, REDIS, ACTE) as well as beeing elected as President of Eurotowns, the network of medium sized european cities for two terms.
Jorda is now validated as a Thematic Expert for URBACT II and III projects for "Local Economic Development", "Research, Innovation and Knowledge Economy", "Entrepreneurship and competitive SMEs" and "Local Governance". He's member, as well, of the DETE ALC network (Red de Desarrollo Territorial de América Latina y el Caribe).
He is the author of 3 ebooks: "Manual de Introducción Rápida al Desarrollo Económico Local" (2012), "Desarrollo Local y Smart Cities" (2015) and "Manual de Estrategia de Desarrollo para Ciudades Intermedias (y Territorios)" (2016). He is the editor of ciudadinnova.blogspot.com, a blog on cities and innovation from 2005.
