Summary of Professional Experience I, Emmanuel Ifeabunike Okechukwu, had advanced training on Health Systems Improvement Strategies from the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston (USA), as well as Advanced Research Methodologies from the Nigerian National Postgraduate Medical College, with a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Lagos. I possess over 25 years work experience in clinical medicine, public health and community development.

My professional capabilities include:

• Community assessment and developing needs-based intervention projects

• Women empowerment and youth development programmes for rural and urban slum dwellers

• Technical expertise in the management and oversight of development projects

• Quality assurance assessments, and filling capacity-deficits to improve performance

• Monitoring and evaluation of personnel, processes, projects and/or organizations.

• Conducting and reporting implementation research projects.

I have engaged in the use of participatory methodologies for developing rural health systems, health policies and services for government agencies, corporate Nigerian businesses and faith- based organizations. I have secured and managed projects funded by World Bank- implementing agencies, the Malaria Consortium Worldwide (UK), National Agency for the Control of AIDS, businesses and state governments. I coordinated and provided capacity enhancement to a large pool of civil society organizations across Nigeria, and lead teams at the national level to develop policy and programming guidelines for the Federal Ministry of Health, National Agency for the Control of AIDS, National Tuberculosis Programme. I am director for Health Systems and Development Research Group of the Veritas University. For the past twelve years, I coordinate the health systems of the Catholic Church in Nigeria covering over 500 health educational and service facilities.
