Seeking a suitable position as a Deputy Country Director
All round experience in establishing a new Country program in Zimbabwe for the United Nations (UNOPS) with extensive linkages with such government Ministries as Agriculture, Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several others. Key linkages to the UN Agencies like FAO, WFO and more that operate in Zimbabwe. Strong linkages with key funding institutions like World Bank, USAID, FCDO, EU, AFDB and others.
All round programs management experience in INGOs such as Save the Children, Oxfam, Plan International. Other experience in INGOs include fund sourcing, program designing, implementation, leadership, donor relations management, consortium management, monitoring and evaluation. Experience in emergency response operations with particular emphasis on Mobile Cash Transfer Programs, (floods, epidemics and droughts responses). Lead emergency responses in Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Extensive long-term development programs management experience for livelihoods, irrigation support, market linkages, value chains, seed multiplications, health, child protection and disaster risk reduction and policy advocacy programs including mainstreaming of gender, HIV/AIDS and capacity building.
Extensive exposure to United Nations, private, public and INGO programs leadership. 35 years of progressive working experience. Of these, 27 were spent in community Development/Humanitarian programs Management & Training in INGOs (Zimbabwe Government, Plan International, Save the Children UK, University Of Free State, Oxfam GB, Save the Children International and UNOPS).
Commended for excellence in management and leadership functions in human, material and other resource management. Hands on experience in managing various functions like program implementation, procurement/logistics, finance, MEAL, Fundraising, HR and also as acting Country Director for 8 months.
Record for successfully resolving program operational challenges in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa for different Humanitarian missions.
International working experience in such countries as South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and short assignments/trainings in Angola, Malawi, Kenya, England, Tanzania and Ghana with program visits to USA, India, Zambia, Thailand, South Africa and Lesotho.
Extensive experience in fundraising for Projects from key donors like the World Bank, AFDB, EU, FCDO, OFDA, AUSAID, USAID and foundations in the UK. Managed the grants and contracts from USAID ($3.8M in 10 months on Cash Transfer Programs, DFID GBP2.5M in 3 years, ECHO EURO10.6M in 10 months) and others like World Bank $72 M, AFDB 25M for Cyclone Idai recovery work in Zimbabwe.
Worked as a Partnerships Liaison Officer for UNOPS, Director Of Program Operations for Save the Children and also acted in place of Country Director for Save the Children on many occasions. Worked as Acting Country Director & Senior Program Manager as well as Humanitarian Programs Coordinator for Oxfam GB and Manager with Plan International.
I hold a Masters Degree In Disaster Management, BSc Agriculture Management degree, a certificate in Disaster Management and Mitigation, a diploma in sales management and marketing, a certificate in education at secondary school level (Teaching Certificate), a certificate in management development, a certificate in train the trainers course, an ICDL computers certificate, CIS parts A&B single subjects i.e. Marketing, Business, Communications, Economics and Information Technology, Class 4 drivers’ license and a valid passport.
