Accomplishments: Techno-economic planning and design of distribution network layout (medium and low voltage networks) for off-grid and interconnected mini-grid systems, assessing the energy demand for different communities in Nigeria. Planning, steering, and assigning geo-data surveys by the local partners and on-field assistants, creating connection layers using geo-tagged imagery and data as well as assessing the existing grid assets identified during on-site surveys. Clean data and analyse on-site collected information, transforming the grid connection layers to vector points and line data using geo-tagged imagery and site reports, process the data to create visualizations and thematic maps in regard to community population centres and large users grid infrastructure; modelling the grid design and grid simulations as voltage drop, loads per pole, cable sizing required, etc. Perform least cost energy planning based on private developers’ design preferences. Produce preliminary designs including network layout and its interconnection strategy using single line diagrams (SLD’s), size the system for optimal configuration using HOMER and prepare bill of quantity (BoQ) for the optimized system. Facilitate training on distribution network planning, demand assessment and system sizing on HOMER, draft the content of the training module and create audio-visual recording of the training. Settlement remote mapping, using OpenStreetMap and JOSM to populate database and contribute to OpenStreetMap. Support with the preparation of various proposals and expression of interests, documentation review including ToR’s and performing tasks as assigned
