About
I delivered on C4D with ActionAid in Bangladesh for nearly four years. To collect/generate multi-format contents as evidence of development impact and for storytelling, I closely worked with people from low-income communities in both non-disaster and natural disaster conditions, and liaised with advocacy and campaign colleagues within ActionAid federation as well as international research institutes. I contributed to the development of CSO appeals and campaigns on RMG and Rana Plaza, and discourse around Women’s Resilience Index, Safe Cities and Water Commons. Enlisted on the emergency roster, I worked as country spokesperson collecting stories to foster real-time strategic decision making and fundraising appeals. I revamped the website and raised ActionAid’s visibility across social and mainstream media platforms.
With the ‘Developing Midwives Project’ of BRAC University, I developed digital assets and platforms to help promote midwifery amidst an increasing culture of C-Section. I innovated print communication medium to reach mothers in rural Bangladesh and also established and popularized the ‘Degree in Midwifery’ among young women as tertiary education option.
Now with Room to Read Bangladesh, I lead the communication team to profile the organization’s technical leadership in Bangladesh’s public education sector and position it in policy discussions toward reform in national curriculum and reading materials. I am conceptualizing, executing and evaluating strategic and campaign communications initiatives. I ensure visibility of donors and partners, and develop digital assets for storytelling on social media and website as well as for mainstream media pitches. Besides supporting staff members on improving on the different aspects of development communication, I am progressively digitizing the learning resources and innovating target audience mapping for wider, effective reach.
For 11+ years in the development communication scene, I have developed, mastered and disseminated digital resources to profile and expand non-profit brands. I have also analyzed datasets to develop infographics, shot and edited videos to help press for action, and liaised with agencies to ensure print and animated deliverables. I have managed websites on WordPress, Drupal and Umbraco, and built people’s capacity in identifying, developing and repurposing human-interest stories.
I have a first class ‘BA in English’ degree and an ability to write for various audiences and platforms. I am keen on picking up new skills and tools embedding an interest in team members to explore the new while maintaining accuracy, clarity and relevance. I lead by example and have developed several communication professionals.
