Hands on experience in programming of projects/programs in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya, South Sudan. For over twenty-nine years, I have worked as (a) Project Officer – Child Protection, UNICEF-South Sudan where I was instrumental in translating ‘child protection’ into concrete activities. Embracing an approach of building on existing community strengths, I have been able to help shift the views of communities from a dependent and relief-minded mindset to that of development and partnership. (b) Program Development Officer, Save the Children Sweden (southern Sudan Program) where among other responsibilities I have been instrumental in organizing and facilitating capacity building programs for staff and partners. (c) Country Director University College Cork – Ireland (Ethiopia and Rwanda Field Offices) where I organized and facilitated life-skills programmes, worked with government and non-government partners , and taught at the National University of Rwanda; and (d) Guidance and Counseling Officer for the Ministry of Education in Ethiopia. From February 2007to March 2015, I have served as Ethiopia Country Director for International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR), an organization known for its work in capacity building to reduce poverty. Up until December 2017, I have been the Regional Academic Director, East Africa, Future Generations University & also Programs Advisor, Africa Regional Center mainly in charge of Writeshops and Applied Learning. Currently, I am the Head of Addis Ababa Regional Office, Life & Peace Institute.
