Dr. Anwar Islam has more than twenty-five years of experience, both in developed and developing countries, as a Health Systems Management and Development specialist; expert in international Development, Senior Administrator and Executive; and Medical Sociologist with expertise in public health; international development; globalization and dynamics of global development; public policy/planning; program monitoring and evaluation; gender and development; health economics and healthcare financing; organizational development and management; and researcher and research manager in public health. This is complemented by twenty years of experience in graduate/post-graduate level teaching, administration and high-level management of public educational institutions.

Dr. Islam’s major areas of research expertise and interest include health systems strengthening, social determinants of health, chronic non-communicable diseases, political economy of public policy and resource allocation, human resource management, health economics and health care financing, gender and development, food security and equity, and climate change and the health system.
