Dr. Sai Bhaskar Reddy Nakka is an Environment and Development professional. He is having more than two decades of experience, contributing to climate change, environment, energy and developmental aspects in parts of 18 states in India and abroad - Afghanistan, Canada, Kenya, Uganda and Bangladesh. Studied double Masters of Science's (MSc)- in Applied Geology from IIT, Bombay and also Geography. For his Ph.D., pursued “Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Studies of the Polluted Water at Patancheru Industrial Area, Medak Dist.” in India. He is also a specialist of GIS, Remote sensing, sensors, ICTs and Participatory Monitoring tools. He has coordinated the CBD Alliance during the COP11, Convention on Biological Diversity, held in Hyderabad.

As Climate Change Speicalist and Team Leader (since 2016), he has completed the project "Climate Change Adaptation Project (CCAP): Developing Climate Change Scenarios for Agriculture of Afghanistan," Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL). Contract awarded to MGTWELL Consulting Services, Kabul. Grant of GEF/UNDP. He also completed two other assignments as Team leader for the study "Beekeeping Development Project Economic Analysis" in Afghanistan for Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL). And Team leader for the environmental and social impact assessment of the soya bean milk factory, of Nutrition and Education International (NEI), USA. Presently he has taken up shortterm assignments in Kabul.

Worked as a Geoecologist to the "Hussainsagar Lake and Catchment Area Improvement Project," to NJS Consultants Co. Ltd, Japan. He was the coordinator of ClimaAdapt (Climate Change Adaptation) Project -An integrated science-stakeholder-policy approach to develop Adaptation framework for Water and Agriculture sectors in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu states of India., WALAMTARI, supported by Norwegian Government. Implemented Good Stoves and Biochar Communities Project, funded by GoodPlanet.org, France. This is an alternative carbon, climate change project. Has successfully led the project, “Vulnerability Assessment and Enhancing Adaptation to climate change in semi-arid parts of Andhra Pradesh” - A national level project supported by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Also worked as Additional Coordinator for the DFID funded “Andhra Pradesh Rural Livelihoods Programme. Worked on the issues of Join Forest Management in parts of Andhra Pradesh with 600 community forest management groups, project supported by Hivos and NOVIB, Netherlands.  

Lead the National Environmental Awareness Campaign Programme in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, funded by Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. He has conducted studies on the disaster response and mitigation related to Earthquakes, Cyclone's and Floods. Supported social engineering and the sustainability of Lift Irrigation Schemes and livelihoods.

Has conducted Environmental and Social Impact Assessment on the following subjects: Soy Milk Factory for Nutrition Education International(NEI), Kabul; Consultant in Environmental Services Group, New Delhi, India - Researched mining areas ecological restoration, rainwater harvesting, watershed management, water treatment and drinking water production technologies & solid waste management in parts of Goa and Orissa states.Monitoring and Evaluation: + Consultant to the Evangelical Fellowship of India Commission on Relief (EFICOR), New Delhi- Conducted

Has done Monitoring and Evaluation of the following: As consultant to the Evangelical Fellowship of India Commission on Relief (EFICOR), New Delhi- Conducted trainings & assessments of their projects in parts of India such as Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change, Watersheds, Food Security and Livelihoods, Rural Energy- Biomass stoves and Soil Fertility Management – Biochar. From 2008 to 2015. Consultant to the project “Social and Environmental Management Framework [SEMF],” contributed to the project report, inception report, monitoring indicators, etc. AP Water Sector Improvement Project - Nagarjuna Sagar Project, Irrigation & CAD Department, - Implemented by Aranya Agricultural Alternatives, Hyderabad for the World Bank bilateral project with the Government of Andhra Pradesh. (January 2012 to July 2012).

He has researched and development of technologies for adoption by communities. Introduced "Biochar" in parts of India for soil fertility and environmental benefits. Designed 50 low-cost, efficient biomass 'Good Stoves.' Developed inexpensive sensors for water use efficiency on-farm and irrigation systems and monitoring soil moisture and weather parameters. He has also experience in flying drones for environmental and natural resources management.
