About

I am a professional aviation executive with background as a pilot, air traffic controller, airport director, regulator and aviation security director. I was appointed as Deputy Head of MIssion / Chief of Staff for an EU Crisis Mission in South Sudan 2012 - 14 which ended prematurely when the new civil war broke out in December 2013.

I have worked extensively in conflct and post conflict areas including South Sudan, Somalia, the Balkans, Afghanistan, Solomon Is and PNG.

In Afghanistan I was contracted to conduct a technical audit and assess the success of a major UN training programme intended to enable the Afghans to operate their own airport and aviation system in 2010.   I was recalled by UN to direct the Afghan NAtional Airports Project 2016 - 17 and again in 2022 for 5 months to reassess the state of Afghan airports after takeover by the Taliban.

I also spent six months as a Senior Expert on the EU - India Civil Aviation Cooperation project, based in New Delhi 2015.

I have led major airport upgrade projects in the Pacific region, and the construction of new terminals at green field sites along with aviation training centres at two airports. These have been funded by EU, EIB and AusAID.

My particular skills are in working with developing countries and in multi cultural societies. I am a team builder and manage through good people.

I lived and worked in SE Asia for 12 years and then was appointed Head of the Pacific Aviation Safety Office for 3 years with responsibility for starting and developing that office to provide aviation safety and security oversight for 10 small Pacific island nations.  It was an international Organization defined by the Pacific Islands Civil Aviation Safety & Security Treaty.

I now seek consulting tasks of from 3 to 12 months (negotiable)  anywhere in the World.
