About
I have worked in the media and allied industries almost all my life. I started as a working journalist in London, UK and graduated from the position of editorial assistant to staff writer contributing articles on politics, economics and social issues pertaining to Arab and Islamic communities living in the UK and Western Europe. Before changing career direction, I applied my journalism in many parts in the world, namely, in addition to Europe, the Middle East and USA. Using my writing and language skills, I moved into communications and public relations working for some of the world\\\'s renowned organisations, most notable amongst which are Philip Morris International (the tobacco giant) where I held the position of manager of external relations, Al Jazeera Channel and Al Arabiya News Channel. With the last two mentioned organisations I was THE spokesperson and the guardian of their professional image. Although moving away from active journalism, I nevertheless maintained close contact with the media industry as a cornerstone of my functions and responsibilities. In fact, I have developed a wide and rich network of media contacts in the Middle East (i.e. Arab) media a well as international media organisations. Being of Arab origin (I am originally Lebanese) and having lived, studied and worked in the west since a young age (I am a British citizen) gave me the edge in my career as I could understand both sides of the fence and was what I can describe as a cultural bridge between the tow communities. Throughout my career, I travelled extensively, and have familiarised myself with diverse cultures and their needs and requirements.
