Jamie Tronnes has worked in 18 countries on four continents, primarily with political parties, candidates, and civil society movements in the democracy and governance sector. She holds a Master's in Terrorism and Political Violence from the University of St Andrews. Ms. Tronnes is an expert in democracy and governance work and is available as well for consulting in the field of countering violent extremism. Her work focuses on traditional democracy and governance processes as well as innovative programming to create a more peaceful world.
While serving as Director of Programmes at the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, Mrs. Tronnes oversaw a portfolio of all the foundations grant-in-aid parliamentary and civil society programmes. Mrs. Tronnes previously served as Deputy Regional Director for Africa at the International Republican Institute, where she oversaw over $20 Million USD in annual expenditures, reviewed all reports to ensure quality reporting on indicators and against logframes, and managed around 100 local and expatriate staff in six offices on two continents. She was additionally Chief of Party in Lebanon and Morocco for IRI.
Ms. Tronnes served in the role of Mission Director for the Canadian Election Observation Mission (CANEOM) for the 2014 Early Parliamentary Elections in Ukraine. She has additionally observed elections as a core team member for EOMs in Egypt, Nigeria, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
