I work with artisans to sustainably increase incomes from handcrafts, furniture, and home decor products sales. I've helped artisans in more than 30 countries run successful businesses that can compete in world markets by

• Assessing artisans’ capabilities, market potential, business environment and constraints
• Delivering targeted, effective, and fun business training in design and product development, production, quality control, marketing, costing and pricing, and other business skills
• Designing new product lines and updating existing products to meet market needs and expectations
• Advising governments and NGOs on practical policies that help MSMEs prosper.

In addition to my extensive crafts background, I have mainstream business experience designing and developing furniture, decorative accessories and other home furnishings products for manufacturers. My combined knowledge of the needs and capabilities of both indigenous artisans and international businesses helps me instruct artisans in market needs and wants, while honoring and respecting artisan cultures and traditions.

I've consulted for USAID, several divisions of the United Nations, the World Bank, and multiple consulting firms, NGOs, and governments. Among my publications are a training program for SE Asian artisans for the ILO that was translated into 35 languages, the Crafts Center’s Artisan Enterprise Network (AEN) training module on Production, and a lead article for The International Ecotourism Society titled “Handcrafts Increase the Success of Ecotourism Sites”.
