About

My career in project, financial, and grants management has spanned 26 years, 15 of which have been with development organizations funded by international donors, including USAID, UKAid, the EU, and the World Bank. I have successfully managed USAID, UKAid, and EU project teams across administrative and technical sectors providing   training, capacity building,   and mentorship for staff in project, performance, and financial management.

As the Finance and Grants Manager on the Ghana Complementary Basic Education (CBE) Programme, funded by UKAid and USAID, I work closely with 3 large teams including the finance, grants, and M&E, with ultimate responsibility of tracking grantee performance through an integrated financial and risk management approach (a Balanced Scorecard approach). I set up a Performance Management Programme that consisted of 3 key elements:

 1. Performance management framework that ensured programme strategy was linked to operational outcomes and measures.

 2. Key Performance Indicators reporting; and

 3. Management operating reviews

The KPIs developed for Grant Partners enhanced the quality of reporting and performance of grantees on the CBE Programme, evidenced by the funding agency’s Annual Review Report.

As the Finance and Administration Manager for the Women in Law and Development in Africa (Ghana), I directly supervised a team of 11 staff members on multiple teams covering   various   project areas including finance, governance, legal awareness, and project management. As performance management champion, I led the process of implementing a performance management system that helped WiLDAF in executing its strategic priorities.

As an experienced grants specialist, I have demonstrated competency in compliance with grants-related policies and procedures, including grant design, implementation, and closure. I hold expert knowledge in USAID rules and regulations( including ADS 300, 301,302,  303, and 304 ) pertaining to financial management and grants procedures, procurement, monitoring and evaluating projects,  as well as using key performance indicators to assess financial performance, assessing overall financial capacity, and providing staff training and capacity building.

My areas of interest include ( but not limited to):

 1. Business Analytics

 2. Financial Management Assessment

 3. Balanced Scorecard system implementation

 4. Activity- Based Costing/ Activity-Based Management

 5. Corporate training

 6. Financial Analysis and Reporting

 7. Full lifecycle grants management
