About
With a career spanning 28 years in the livestock development sector, I have developed a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that smallholder farmers and livestock businesses face. My extensive experience includes strategizing and implementing climate-resilient and sustainable livestock production initiatives across the entire livestock value chain under varied production systems, with a strong emphasis on food security, rural development, and livelihood enhancement. I hold a master’s degree in animal production systems and a degree in veterinary science Currently positioned as a Technical Advisor with FAO, Saudi Arabia, I am deeply involved in the conception and execution of livestock development initiatives as part of the nation's sustainable rural agriculture development program. Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to devising and executing livestock-based livelihood enhancement programs in multiple regions of India, as well as in selected South Asian and Central Asian countries. My focus has consistently revolved around poverty reduction and food security. Past roles include providing consultancy services as an FAO National and International Livestock Specialist, contributing to the design and evaluation of livestock programs funded by the World Bank and FAO of the UN. I am adept at conducting agriculture sector-scoping studies, sectoral analyses for program design and advanced statistical analysis. My commitment extends to supporting global initiatives and advocating programs that enhance livelihoods through livestock resources. I possess the skills to conduct technical audits of projects and excel as a Manager with proficiency in analysis, documentation, and time management. My capabilities extend to rural development project design, particularly in agriculture and livestock development, encompassing substantial donor-funded projects like those supported by the World Bank. I bring additional strengths in community mobilization for rural development programs, stakeholder analysis, problem identification, project costing, project implementation and management, establishment of institutional infrastructures for agriculture service delivery and marketing, training and capacity development, project monitoring and evaluation, and impact studies. Moreover, I am passionate about and proficient in the research and application of genomics and digital tools within the realm of sustainable livestock breeding and animal health, especially within complex smallholder livestock production systems. I am actively seeking opportunities to contribute my wealth of experience and skills towards strategizing and implementing climate-resilient livestock production and animal health technologies, ultimately benefiting rural livestock farmers in developing countries.
