JOB TITLE: Procurement Associate
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Fixed Term (FT)
GRADE/LEVEL: GS-6
UNIT/DIVISION: Supply Chain and Emergency Preparedness Response Unit
DUTY STATION (City, Country): Kathmandu, Nepal 
DURATION: 12 months (renewable)

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Minimum five years or more experience in public procurement of Food, Transport, Goods and Other Services.
  • Knowledge of custom clearance process desirable
  • Additional experience in finance/budget management, audit, logistics is desire

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience with local procurement of food commodities, engineering, transport, finance and other services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement processes and linkages with other operations (e.g. food/nutrition programme, engineering, logistics)
  • Experience conducting supplier market research and coordinating with retailers, wholesalers and traders.
  • Experience with UN or public procurement processes is desired.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

 

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.
