EURO-FUNDING Multilateral Projects, S.L. is looking for a Business Development Manager - Sales and Marketing, for the following WB financed project: Technical Services Provider for the Program for Suriname’s Growth Enterprises (SURGE).

SURGE will be an MEA (Ministry of Economic Affairs) program managed by the MEA PIU (Project Implementation Unit) for the Suriname Competitiveness and Sector Diversification Project; the group of experts will support MEA in the day to day implementation to ensure a market-driven and commercially oriented approach to supporting growth enterprises.

We are looking for a Business Development Manager - Sales and Marketing, with following qualifications and areas of responsibility:

This position will provide business development services to MSMEs and value chains in sales and marketing aspects such as product development and branding promotion. This support should draw on direct private sector experience as a sales manager, preferably in food or consumer goods or tourism. Additional requirements include:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration / Marketing or a related field;
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in a sales and marketing position, with demonstrated experience in managing a sales team;
  • Ability to identify market needs, convert needs into product specifications and product positioning;
  • Familiarity with regional and international markets that could be targeted for exports from Suriname of agribusiness, tourism, or other export products;
  • Broad experience in different business areas to be able to diagnose problems related to sales and marketing;
  • Ability to select the appropriate distribution channels and negotiate agreements with buyers at the retail and wholesale level;
  • Experience in business counseling and sales coaching, including facilitation;
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork skills, building and maintain relationships;
  • Confidence, passion, and enthusiasm for working with MSMEs and entrepreneurs;
  • Based in Suriname, knowledge of Surinamese economy and culture is a pre. Must be fluent in Dutch and Sranan Tongo.

Candidates will be evaluated on the following basis:

1) General qualifications (general education, training, and experience): [weight 20 %]
2) Adequacy for the Assignment (relevant education, training, experience in the sector/similar assignments): [weight 70%]
3) Relevant experience in the region (working level fluency in local language(s)/knowledge of local culture or administrative system, government organization, etc.): [weight 10 %]

Notes:

  1. The Business Development Manager - Sales and Marketing, must be independent and free from conflict of interest in the responsibilities they take on.
  2. Expected start date of the project: November 2022, with a duration of 36 months.
