EURO-FUNDING Multilateral Projects, S.L. is looking for a Matching Grant Manager, for the following WB financed project: Technical Services Provider for the Program for Suriname’s Growth Enterprises (SURGE).

SURGE will be an MEA (Ministry of Economic Affairs) program managed by the MEA PIU (Project Implementation Unit) for the Suriname Competitiveness and Sector Diversification Project; the group of experts will support MEA in the day to day implementation to ensure a market-driven and commercially oriented approach to supporting growth enterprises.

We are looking for a Matching Grant Manager, with following qualifications and areas of responsibility:

This position will support MSMEs and value chain applicants in developing projects to propose for matching grant support, working in close collaboration with the Business Development Managers. It will also be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the matching grants and their disbursements, including fiduciary oversight of the funds. Position requirements include:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field;
  • Experience managing MSME development funds, such as business incubators, accelerators, early-stage investment funds, matching grants programs, or others;
  • Ideally, direct experience in implementing matching grant programs;
  • Ability to demonstrate high integrity and a professional track record of managing funds with strong accountability and governance;
  • Minimum of 3 years proven track record of working with and analyzing early-stage firms, particularly in an investing capacity;
  • Knowledge of agribusiness and/or tourism sectors and their value chains would be a distinct advantage;
  • Knowledge of managing clusters would be a distinct advantage;
  • Based in Suriname, knowledge of Surinamese economy and culture is a pre. Must be fluent in Dutch and Sranan Tongo;
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of the coaching and mentoring needs of entrepreneurs and managing enterprises in devising successful ways to help them build skills.

Candidates will be evaluated on the following basis:

1) General qualifications (general education, training, and experience): [weight 20 %]
2) Adequacy for the Assignment (relevant education, training, experience in the sector/similar assignments): [weight 70%]
3) Relevant experience in the region (working level fluency in local language(s)/knowledge of local culture or administrative system, government organization, etc.): [weight 10 %]

Notes:

  1. The Matching Grant Manager, must be independent and free from conflict of interest in the responsibilities they take on.
  2. Expected start date of the project: November 2022, with a duration of 36 months.
