Environmental Specialist

GOPA Infra is searching for an Environmental Specialist for an AfDB-financed project Procurement of: Project Management Consultancy Services (IRSUE-Luxor)

Task description

The tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Monitor Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) requirements for Keman & Al Dabiba clusters and assist LWSC in obtaining EEAA approval.
• Monitor the implementation of the Environment and Social Management plans (ESMPs) for the Program and supervise the ISC in preparation of appropriate subproject Environment and Social Management plans (ESMPs), including site-specific EMPs when necessary.
• Train WWTP staff on the environmental registers of WWTPs.
• Prepare the developed mitigation system to reduce the algae concentration in the effluent of the stabilization ponds in the WTTPs of the two clusters.
• Monitor and manage the ISC and contractors on adhering to safeguards provisions as included in the specifications of the contracts and as required by the Program including the corrective actions when needed; and
• any other relevant work that supports the achievement of the program targets.

Qualifications

• The Environmental specialist shall be local and have an advanced engineering/science degree.
• At least 15 years of experience in medium to large scale water/wastewater utilities.
• Fluent in Arabic and English.
• Familiar with the environmental safeguards policies of the Government of Egypt.
