Occupational Health and Safety Expert

GOPA Infra is searching for a Occupational Health and Safety Expert for an AfDB-financed project Procurement of: Project Management Consultancy Services (IRSUE-Luxor)

Task description

The tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare a unified Health and Safety plan for all the Program and monitor the plan at all the Program's stages and follow-up its implementation.
• Reporting on the status of the implementation of Occupational Health and Satety (OHS) plan and guide the PMCF team and the different stakeholders to take the corrective actions in a timely manner.
• Provide training to the LWWC on the HSE measures and on carry out field inspections to ensure the contractor's adhering to the occupational HSE plan.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of the contractors in each site on a spot basis to assure the applying of the HSE procedures/plans including the corrective actions taken.
• Ensure that each ISC has hired certified operational health and safety specialists monitoring and reporting on the OHS measures in construction sites including the corrective actions taken.
• Provide and implement the HSE guidelines.
• Inspect equipment, and work environment to assist the general management compliance with Environmental, Safety and Health standards; and
• any other relevant work that supports the achievements of the program targets.

Qualifications

• Local senior level professional with an engineering background in construction management or related discipline and should have a strong knowledge on the construction management.
• Fluent in Arabic and English
• More than 15 years relevant professional experience.
• At least 10 years experience in managing and supervising Health and Safety risks for major construction of public infrastructure projects.
• S/he should be qualified in IOSH 'Institution of Occupational Safety and Health" and/or OSHA' Occupational Safety and Health Administration'.
