Description
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Bangui, Central African Republic, with frequent domestic travel to project sites.
Your responsibilities
- Identify learning and training opportunities for Food Security Cluster members and build capacity in preparedness and response within the cluster
- Ensure cluster participants are aware of relevant policy guidance, technical standards, and relevant commitments made by government/concerned agencies under international human rights law
- Lead the updating of the food security cluster work plan and coordinate the harmonization of response activities to ensure that overlap and duplication are avoided to maximize the use of resources
- Ensure that the interagency response strategy for the Food Security Cluster reflects key findings from needs assessments, identifies gaps, and formulates a sector-wide interagency response plan that addresses cross-cutting issues from other sectors or clusters
- Ensure information is shared among cluster members and that information from other sectors and clusters is made available to improve planning, integration, and implementation
- Ensure representation of the food security cluster at all relevant external meetings and collect/share information as relevant
- Actively participate with the Cluster Lead Agency in global humanitarian planning activities such as Humanitarian Needs Overviews (HNOs) and Humanitarian Response Plans (HRPs)
Your profile

A university or polytechnic degree in food security, agriculture, nutrition or a related field
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in an emergency context
- Several years of project management experience in nutrition and cluster coordination
- ECHO, HF, FAO and/or WFP donor experience would be an advantage
- Coordination and organisational skills, including ability to work under pressure and a high level of mental and physical resilience
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to the cluster members/partners sites, field locations and stakeholder meetings, including areas with volatile local conditions
- Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe's project countries
- Excellent spoken and written English and French
