Reports to: Senior Manager, Vaccine Acceptance & Demand (VAD)

Location: Remote work (US Only)

The Senior Associate, Digital Communications (VAD) is a detail-oriented and collaborative individual who is a member of Sabin’s Vaccine Acceptance & Demand (VAD) initiative. VAD works with researchers and implementing partners around the globe to develop and exchange knowledge that address the social and behavioral drivers of vaccine acceptance and demand, as well as collaborates with organizations worldwide to deepen journalist and health worker knowledge, skillsets and connectivity to report, communicate or advocate on vaccines and immunization.

The Senior Associate, Digital Communications (VAD) will carry out a variety of website, communications, programmatic and administrative duties to support and promote content across the initiative. The position will report to the Senior Manager, Vaccine Acceptance & Demand (VAD), with further work scope mentorship from Sabin’s Core Communications team. The Senior Associate will work closely with the 10-person VAD team, interns, and members of Sabin’s Communications team.

Responsibilities

Digital Communications - Content Development, Creation & Promotion

In collaboration with VAD staff, coordinates content creation for all VAD digital channels – including VaccineAcceptance.org, ImmunizationAdvocates.org, InsightsDialogue.org and VAD-related content on Sabin.org – and its promotion on social media and other channels as needed.
Coordinates optimization, improvements, and maintenance of VAD websites (existing and new web resources) in consultation with Sabin communications staff and vendors.
Develops and coordinates multimedia content and graphic promotional materials, VAD external digital and social channels, including infographics, videos, event materials and newsletters.
Coordinates owned, earned, and paid media campaigns and performs analysis of media campaigns independently and with the team and/or external vendors.
Supports VAD team members in producing effective and engaging scientific communication materials for social media and digital channels, such as blogs, videos, newsletters, website, articles, op-eds, and others as needed.
Enhances and supports content design and redesign, development, and implementation using results of the audience analysis.
Performs data analyses of web analytics, including traffic and audience, using tracking, linguistic analysis, and survey skills.
Monitors metrics/analytics for digital campaigns, digital and social media channels and produces recurring reports for VAD programs as needed. Regularly advises on tactics to drive traffic, improve content and increase engagement based on metrics/analytics.
Develops, organizes and maintains an editorial calendar for all planned promotional content of events related to VAD programming (written outputs and presentations).

Programmatic and Administrative Support

In coordination with Senior Manager, VAD, ensure communications are delivered in accordance with timelines and within budget. Coordinates with external vendors related to job duties including graphic designers, copyeditors, scientific writers, marketing, and website vendors as needed.
Ensures quality control of content delivered by external vendors or contributors
Participates and represents the VAD initiative in internal editorial or communications meetings. Supports the development of bi-monthly reports to funders and quarterly reports to Board of Trustees elevating team communications-related accomplishments.
Works with team members to support remote and in-person events.
Provides copyediting, formatting, and document management assistance.
Cultivates collaborative relationships with Sabin colleagues and partners to stay informed of latest organizational and field developments.
Other programmatic and administrative duties, as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in related field, such as communications or graphic design
4+ years relevant experience in digital and social media communications or relevant communications areas
Proficient in analytical and technical writing in English
Technical/specialized knowledge in WordPress websites, UX design, social media,
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Animator, and Photoshop), web design/editing tools and HTML coded design
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Word) and Zoom video conferencing
Proficient coordination and administrative skills
Excellent communication and diplomacy skills (attentive listening, writing, speaking)
Must demonstrate interest in furthering Sabin’s mission
Demonstrated success drafting, proofreading and editing complex documents
Strong attention to detail, ability to manage complex tasks, highly organized, flexible and dependable
Strong interpersonal skills; effective at building strong relationships with colleagues and others over geographical distance
Utilizes feedback from staff and partners to adapt and improve plans and outputs
Ability to process information quickly
